Stuff for you!

Yes, you!  You right there, reading this blog!  I have some stuff for you!  Don't ask what it is, just come and get it!  Hurry!

I can see that you'll need more convincing.  Perhaps these photos will help.    You should know though, that it's raining, and I'm lazy, and I don't feel like going outside to take new pictures.  So these photos are old, and most items are significantly more battered than they were a few years ago.  If you're interested in anything and want more information or updated photos, just let me know and I'll be happy to oblige.  As long as it's not raining.

First the free stuff:

 Blue kiddie pool.  FREE!
It's kind of misshapen from three summers of use, but it still holds water.
Contents not included.  (Lucky!)
  Red planter box.  Free!
Includes complimentary potting soil and native weeds

Assorted paint, molding, trim.  FREE!
Left over from household projects. Lots of colors and finishes.  Most cans are about 1/2 full or more.

And now, the not free stuff.   (Although, truth be told, if you wait long enough, it probably will be free cause we're not taking this stuff with us.  How's that for incentive?  Act fast for best selection!)

Upright piano (it's there in the back, behind the couch).  $100 obo*

Red leather couch (see above) and loveseat (below), $4 each obo.
Oh, red couches, you've hurt me so!**

Dining table, $5
Seats 8ish with two leaves.  It's wobbly, and the finish is flaking.

Part of this complete breakfast!

Boy's bike with training wheels.  $7.99 (payable to Sam Hopkins)***
With basket!  And rear storage compartment!

1991 Mazda Miata, $500 obo
So cool!  So sporty!  So cheap!
So, there you have it.  What are you waiting for?  Get on over here and pick up your stuff already!

*Piano:  you gotta move it.  If you're curious, we bought it from a guy on Craigslist who happened to have a flatbed truck, so he dropped it off in our driveway.  Then we happened to invite the missionaries (4 elders) over for dinner, and happened to mention there was a little something they could help us out with.  And they happened to be willing to work for food.   I'm not saying that's what you should do or anything.  Just making conversation.

**Couches:  These may be the only pieces of furniture in our home that we bought new.  And they have broken my heart.  Within months of our purchase, an unnamed member of our household had punched a hole in the loveseat.  In the years since, my resentment for my child has waned as my resentment for the furniture store (Value City, if you're curious) grew.  When the salesman said "I hope you like it, because it will look exactly the same in 10 years," he apparently meant, "Don't think of it as leather, think of it as a leather veneer.  And be aware that the friction from your butt is enough to cause tiny cracks across the surface of the 'leather,' which will eventually tear and split into giant holes, no matter how  you try to tape and patch them."  But, they are comfortable and sturdy, and look just fine from a distance.   You could have them reupholstered, or get slip covers.  Or just strategically place your throw pillows when company comes.  That's what we do.

***Bike:  This bike is definitely worse for wear.  The chain pops off and the brakes need tightening.  I think these are pretty basic repairs if you're someone who knows how to do these sorts of things, but I'm not.  And Sam outgrew it anyway, and moved on to a scooter.  Cause bikes with training wheels are so 2009.  $7.99 is Sam's price, but I'm pretty sure he's negotiable if you throw in a piece of candy.

  1. Ooo I will take the pool! Been looking for one on craigslist. And I only WISH I could be buying that piano! Alas summers are tight and Trav would consider me officially nuts if I asked since I can but plunk out a select few hymns :(
